“What is the price of graphene in India?” is one of the most common questions we receive. The honest answer is that it depends heavily on which graphene you mean. Prices for products all sold as “graphene” can differ by orders of magnitude. This guide from Aritech Nanomaterials India explains why, so you can compare quotations like for like.
1. The form of graphene
The biggest factor is the type of material:
- Graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs): multi-layer stacks used in composites and coatings – generally the most economical per gram.
- Graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO): chemically produced, priced in the middle range depending on layer count and quality.
- Graphene quantum dots: specialty material sold in small quantities.
- CVD graphene films: priced per piece or per area rather than per gram, and the most expensive form.
2. Number of layers
Single-layer and few-layer materials cost more than multi-layer ones because they require more processing and give lower yields. Check whether a product is single-layer, few-layer (2–5) or multi-layer before comparing prices.
3. Lateral size and surface area
Large, uniform flakes and high surface area grades command higher prices. These values should be stated on the data sheet.
4. Purity and oxygen content
Carbon content, oxygen content (for GO and rGO) and residual metals all affect performance and cost. Ask for the COA values rather than a single headline purity.
5. Powder or dispersion
Dispersions include solvent, stabiliser and processing, so their price per gram of graphene is higher, but they save you the time and equipment needed for dispersion.
6. Quantity and landed cost
Research packs cost more per gram than semi-bulk orders. For imported material, freight, customs duty and GST are part of the landed cost. Aritech quotes in INR including these, with a GST invoice, so the figure you see is the delivered price.
How to request a comparable quote
- Name the form (GNP, GO, rGO, CVD film, QDs)
- State layer number, lateral size and surface area if critical
- Give the quantity and whether you need powder or dispersion
- Mention your application so we can suggest a suitable grade
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are some graphene products very cheap?
Low-cost “graphene” is often multi-layer nanoplatelets or partially exfoliated graphite. These are useful for composites but are not the same as single-layer graphene.
Is CVD graphene sold per gram?
No. CVD graphene is a film on a substrate and is priced per piece or per area.
How do I get the graphene price in India from Aritech?
